The region of Paleyagaras is very significant in the history of Chitradurga. During this period the forts were built, and temples and monasteries were improved. Therefore the political status of Chitradurga also flourished. Chitradurga became the capital of Paleyagaras. Madakari nayaka was the most prominent and powerful of them. OnakeObavva, who fought against Hider Ali is considered as a brave and historical woman.

Suresh G _{B.E., M.TECH., M.I.S.T.E.} is working as a PRINCIPAL, from the inception of Institution and rendering services for 31years  as a PRINCIPAL who has put all his efforts to bring up the college and to deliver the best quality of education by tracking operations within the college and helping students for placement and higher education with the blessing of Poojya Mahaswamiji.

Gnana Vikas Polytechnic is approved by All India Council Technical Education, New Delhi; affiliated by the Director of Technical Education, and recognized by the Government of Karnataka. It has the unique distinction of having learned faculty for teaching in respective disciplines.
